New Bionaire Litterbox Review

I recently saw a new "Bionaire" litterbox in Petco and it piqued my interest.

This litterbox uses a charcoal filter, but it has a motor to circulate air through the filter and also has a lighted panel to tell you when the filter needs to be changed.

I am currently a CG user, but the CG isn't a perfect solution for me. My litterbox is in a downstairs bathroom with no fan or windows for ventillation, so I thought the circulating air/filter litterbox might be good. In addition, one of my cats is SUPER long (Bengal). So, most of the time, his #2 ends up on the floor just outside the litter box (even w/ a covered litter box!). The second reason I thought the Bionaire would be good is that it is oblong shaped and rather long. It is covered, but has good head room, and the cover can be used up or down.

Since I'm a sucker for litterbox gadgetry, I ordered one online from the Bionaire website. It was backordered, and after waiting a month, I cancelled my order and ordered one from Amazon, which arrived in about 3-4 days! The cats took to it right away and didn't mind the sound of the fan...although, one of my cats likes to sit on top of it and sometimes pushes the power button and turns it off. Since I've had it (about 2 weeks now) there hasn't been any #2 outside the litterbox!!! YAY! Both cats definitely prefer this box to the CG and are only using the CG about once every other day or so. The shape of the box is perfect for my long cat and he has no trouble doing his business, even with the hood down. The opening is nice and large so he can still stick his head out while he goes (he likes to put his feet up on the rim of the box while he goes). As far as odor removal, I think the box does what it is supposed to. When the cat goes #2, you can still smell it, but I believe the box eliminates the smell much quicker than normal if you can't get to the box right away and scoop it.

So far, I'm a happy customer. Even if the fan and filter didn't work well, I would still like this box for its great shape and size that accomodates my cats. In addition, this box looks attractive and stylish compared to most XL litterboxes that look like some giant tote or something.
Enjoying my 2 little Bengals :)
