Anyone hear of the Evaporator Odor Free litter box?

Postby trberry5 » Thu Aug 14, 2003 6:27 pm

Browsing Ebay I came across this litter box that claims to evaporate cat urine before it breaks down and causes odor. It says you only need to scoop poo and will only have to clean out the box a couple times a month.
(Hey, my dog will take care of the poo...it should be totally maintainence free...LOL....j/k)

You can't use clumping litter it it, they recommend a clay litter.

The seller has 59 positive feedback entries....I wonder if there's anything to this.

Maybe I'm a sucker, but I ordered one and will let you all know how it handles my kitty with renal failure (she pees massive amounts)

Still planning on ordering the Litter Robot one day though....

well I've been using it for a week now and it seems to work! Now, the kitties aren't using it much at all, I have a Litter-Robot that they are mainly using. The Evaporator is my back-up box that I keep on the other end of the house for the girls in case the LR is in use or too far away.

The several times they have peed in it have dried completely with zero odor! I like it :)

I purchased three for my cats after my newest one absolutely refused to use the Litterfree and the other two decided to go back to the standard litterbox since that new cat was using one.

It works as advertised. There is absolutely no odor from urine with these boxes. I even went in after one of my cats used it and saw the wet spot in the litter and noticed it was gone when I came back later.

I'm very satisified.

I tried to look this up on Ebay but the auction number was invalid, couldn't find anything under Evaporator - is it listed as such in the auction title? Lmk & thanks!

Hi,

I didn't get mine from E-bay but ordered it using the phone number on their website: http://www.odorfreekitty.com. Currently they are only taking phone orders.

Any updates

Postby kvandivo » Wed Nov 10, 2004 2:48 pm

I was looking around for a new litter box and information on The Evaporator is a bit sparse, but I was hoping that some of those who have these might be able to comment on how well they have worked over time. I've tried most of the options (a couple of maids, and a bot) and I've got a problem child that either messes the maid up by peeing in the very corner, or refuses to use the bot.

So, I was curious if anyone has any additional information on this one. For twenty bucks i might be willing to give it a try.. I had also glanced at the tres chic one, but there seems to be a few negative comments on it..

The litterbox works fairly well. It uses non-clumping litter and does eliminate ammonia smell as long as you keep it cleaned. It's not a bad deal. I really didn't want to switch back to a normal litterbox because I had a Litterfree but had to give it up when my new cat wouldn't use it and the other two went back to using his.

As I've said, it works as advertised and is good deal, in my opinion.

So... You've got three cats, and 3 of these things.. How much litter do they hold, and how often do you find yourself replacing it?

Thanks for the insight!
