PLEASE HELP! Male cat sprays outside the box!!

Postby simplybliss » Tue Jun 07, 2011 10:54 am

I have a male cat, Mister, who is about 14 years old... he is neutered and is a very happy, active, healthy cat. However, when he goes to use the box he doesn't turn around in it and often it sprays outside of it! I have put down potty pads around it to try to help contain the urine, but I want it to stop! If he would only turn around in it we wouldn't have an issue... I took the top off several months ago and that hasn't made a difference... any ideas to get this guy to turn around?!? I'm desperate!

I would take him to see the vet to see if something is wrong. At his age, any number of things could be happening. Best thing to do is have him checked to rule out any physical reasons.

Nope, he has a clean bill of health... All bloodwork is normal as well.... Its alomst as if he starts to stand up instead of staying in a squat position... He's been doing it a LONG time... I just can't seem to figure out how to make it stop. If there even is a way.... Urgh.
