Okay, sorry for that extremely graphic subject line!
We adopted a year old rescue kitty last December and she sneezes nasty goo out of her nose several times per day. Initially, she was wheezing and coughing and sneezing several times per hour so we put her on antibiotics and she improved greatly. Three months later, she's two pounds heavier and very healthy looking and playful but she's obviously still got something going on in her sinuses. Yesterday, she sneezed in the kitchen and I noticed a glob of mucous on the floor. I'm a mom so I know what sick kids can expel from their nose but I've never seen anything this thick and dark. My vet seems unconcerned since the cat seems to be thriving.
I guess I'm wondering if this will ever clear up. When humans have these symptoms, we eventually recover. Do cats? Has anyone ever heard of cats having their sinuses irrigated under sedation? Seems extreme but that goo is so thick and nasty that I'm not sure she'll ever be able to totally clear her head of it.
