This Furmiator brush:

Postby Hazmat » Thu Nov 19, 2009 4:48 am

I bought one of these for the 3 cats. I did not really use it for years until today.

Dang thing is amasing, if i use the wire brush to clean the furminator.

I been brushing for almost 3 hours and hair is still commiojg off and the 3 cats are lineing up still.

Got a trashcan full of hair so far. The dang cats seem to love it/me lol/

It kickes up so much hair that the trick is to use the wire brush to clean the hair off the furminator brush.

I seldom recommend anything but this thing is amazing.

That's great. :) Both my cats hated it. One tried to bite me when I used it and cried in pain. Do you have long haired cats? mine are short hair.
Owned by two rescue kitties, Ariel and Roo. Both are sweet boys who love to cuddle.

I use the Furminator on both of my cats -- one has slightly thicker fur than the other and the brush does WONDERS on that cat. I could crochet a rug with all the hair that it gets.

The other cat has a much tighter coat -- no where near the amount of fur from him -- but they both like it.

you can buy replacement clipper blades, screw them to a wooden handle, and it works better than the furminator. my mom bought a furminator when they first came out and were like $60. there was NO WAY i'd ever pay that much for a brush, so my now-husband looked at it and realized they're just clipper blades. if you go to a beauty supply store you can get a set of 2 for $10 and they're much sharper (read: more efficient) than the furminator. just thought i'd pass this on...

The furminator (or furminator-substitute) really reaches deep into your cat's fur coat. If it's all tangled down there, expect lots of ripping sounds and discomfort. After you've gotten that fur out, you can keep the new fur from getting tangled by using the brush regularly. My cat hated it when I first started using it (I'd pull it out whenever I needed him to get off my lap). Once I got the tangled stuff out, he loves it.
