Problems with neutered cat spraying

Postby Cunegonde » Wed Nov 04, 2009 3:27 am

Hello All -

I've only had my 7 month old male kitten for a month and he's been good about using his box. Today he was neutered, he pooed in the clean litter box without a problem, then 5 minutes later he sprayed right outside of the box! It was all over the rug, walls, doors and his feet were soaked. Any suggestions as to why he's doing this and how to stop it? Thanks.

Behavior changes after neutering are not instantaneous. His testosterone level is still high and can take several months to fully decline. Just be patient and give him some time.
