The bottom line with cats usually is "the more the meat the less the grain the better."

When we fell on hard times, it was the hardest decision to have to switch from higher-meat-content brands down to something like Purina.

However, then I saw a segment on a TV show about a cat that has lived into its 40's. Its entire life, it has been fed plain-old Purina.

That made it easier for me to switch.

My cats do fine, and I switched 4 years ago. One did end up with crystals, but only one, and he was easily treated. He also turned out to be a cat who insists on drinking from a tap, so we indulge him that to keep him healthy.

Would I switch back to a high-meat-content food if I could afford it? Yes, I would. Am I ok with the Purina in the meantime? Yes, I am.

My cat is between 10 and 13 Y/O; and in the past 3 or so years has gained a bit of weight; she is 12.6 LB; so there is a visible pouch beginig to hang between her legs, kinda cute :). Which We decided to try and get rid of. Granted that for the better half of her life she has been an indoor cat without much activity. All her life she had been eating the original Iams and is free fed. She doesn't like any canned food (other then tuna). So, I've been researching different types of dry food to help to keep her health longer and get her leaner. I have stopped on 2 products Innova's Evo Weight Management formula (grain free) and the Wellness Core (grain free as well). I already tried both products and she seems to eat both of them. Although not at first; but when she realized that thatch all she is getting she ate both of em; which is good news. I'm also planing to get an automatic feeder to brake feedings into a few times a day. So far i have been alternating Evo WM and Core, feeding one or the other on a given day; for 3 days now.
Please comment on my choice of action and products; and also my main question - is it a good idea to mix both of these products in the same bole every day? half portion of one and half of the other?
