What is it with cats and hairbands and/or rubber bands?

My cats' favorite toys:
1) fuzzy toy mice
2) "milk jug" type plastic rings
3) feater tied to stick (apparently fun even if it's just sitting there inert on the floor)
4) pencils/pens... very annoying when trying to write
5) Latest fun thing... foam packing peanuts

These two aren't into it, but I've also had many cats love paper grocery bags.

Does your cat demand they have rattles in them? As soon as mine picks up one without a rattle, he drops it like it was junk. When he finds one with a rattle, he'll smack it all over the house.

My favorite cat toy is a laser pointer. Drives both cats nuts when I have it go across the carpet and under an ottoman, where I turn it off. They sit there staring at the ottoman for a long time. I like to make them run in circles, chasing the light on the carpet.

It's a good, clean, fun and safe way to both exercise and frustrate the cats at the same time. :P

Oh, I forgot about the laser pointer! It's my favorite toy, too, cause I can be all lazy and sit on the couch while the cats run around like crazy.

Nope, no preference for rattling versus non-rattling mice.

I think my cats have a secret laugh at me everytime my laser pointer runs out of batteries during a presentation. It has happened twice so far  I tried to delegate a specific pointer for my presentations and one for the cats... but my kitties won so both pointers are fair game...

One of my kittens, Sugar, loves these squishy balls which she dangles it in her mouth as it gets caught there and will keep bringing it back for you to throw it. It is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. ( I posted about that previously) Her sister, Spice, prefers noisemaking toys. Anything that jingles she will go after.

Laser pointer, fishing poles, furry mice, milk top thingys, chopstix & rubber bands, anything that they can knock down from somewhere they aren't supposed to be, toilet paper and paper towel rolls (brand new ones with all the paper on them! grrr) one cat is obsessed with velcro and straps of any kind with a preference for bra straps, one drags around an old I Love Lucy type of fur thing that is made from some kind of little animals, each biting the next ones butt. There isn't a shoestring in the house that still has the tip on it. Their most fav is anything that involves me playing with them. They like to play hide and seek and fetch. And sinks! The kittens will stare at the drain in a sink for hours. Static loves the toilet. there has been a piece of blue aquarium gravel in one of my toilets for a month now. Static will reach all the way down in the water trying to get it. He gets his whole arm wet up to his shoulder. Last night he went one further. I found him with his back feet on the toilet, butt in the air and he was sticking his whole head in the toilet trying to get that piece of gravel with his mouth! Where is the camera when you need it?

My cats love the newer panic mouse. I ended up having to tape the battery door closed, though. Rabbit fur mice are a big hit around here too. It has to be the rabbit fur. Another favorite is the Hartz foam balls. They end up everywhere.
