The Great Cat Detente of Feb 2008

Brought a new 7 year old cat home from the shelter last weekend. We had our first unsupervised night last night. This morning we have non-hissing nose touching greetings between the two cats. What a week. When Priscilla came home to meet Gracie, I had to keep Priscilla isolated for a week because Gracie was so upset. I cannot believe these cats are co-existing peacefully after only 5 days. Thank you GOD! Considering the circumstances, please believe I welcome this blessing.

YEAH!!! That was quick! I'm so glad they adapted as fast as they did.

I'm still thinking of you.

Thanks so much! I've been dreading picking up Gracies remains from the funeral home. Still kind of expecting for him to come around the corner. We'll manage though. As long as the night howling as cutting down, I'm grateful. Priscilla is still needy as all get out, but she's not acting out. The sudden actual "Fetch" thing has been the strangest adaptation I've seen from her. She brings the mouse, I throw it, she brings it back for another go. That hasn't happened before. Greyhound will keep everybody on their toes. If I had to admit it to myself, Gracie would have probably had a fit with a Greyhound in here. He might even be looking down and thinking, "Damn I dodged a bullet right there..." but I'd rather have him here. We could have worked through it. That's what having pet "kids" is all about.
