Lost my kitty

Postby House_Lion_Pride » Fri Feb 08, 2008 8:51 am

I am so depressed. I came home 2 days ago and found my older cat had died. He had not been lethargic, withdrawn, and wasn't showing any signs of distress. I had Priscilla checked out and she was perfectly healthy-no parasites, great teeth, nothing. I just don't get it.

I am devastated. I miss Gracie so much. He wasn't that old either. Only 9 years old.

I am not sure what to say about your loss of Gracie. It must have been a shock since there were
no signs of anything wrong. I hope Priscilla is not depressed as well and is too lonely. It is just
like missing a family member. I wish to say I am sorry and feel with you at this time.

OMG! I an so sorry to hear this. :( Did the vet have any idea what may have been the problem?

Keep an eye on Priscilla, she may get depressed too. She is probably just as confused, if not more, than you. She will be looking for her buddy. Watch that she is eating everyday, and give her extra loves.

I just can't tell you how sad it makes me when someone loses a pet. My thoughts are with you, Priscilla and Gracie.
RIP little Gracie.

We believe it was a cardiac event. This would explain the lack of symptoms. Where I found him was not somewhere that he sleeps or hides. It was in the middle of my floor. This is why we believe it was sudden. He didn't have any murmurs or anything in his history. If this was the case, there wasn't really much anybody could have done to foresee it or stop it (according to the vet). This doesn't really make me feel much better since he's still gone, but knowing he probably didn't suffer after it happened...that was comforting

Thanks so much for your kind words and concern. We're doing alright. Yesterday I decided to go to the Humane Society and I brought home Faith who effectively informed me I was bringing her home by getting in the carrier herself. At least Priscilla curious now and not crying in the middle of the night. I'm still just getting by but at least I have a constructive distraction. Faith is settled in and was eating within a hour of getting here. She has her own litterbox and is isolated right now, but no accidents or any anxiety. I think I may have brought home a diva.
