Litter History: Who'd a Thunk it????

Postby House_Lion_Pride » Fri Jan 25, 2008 8:22 am

I decided to try to do some hunting and gathering to figure out who the heck figured out they could keep cats in the house by giving them a box of clay to poop and pee in.

It looks like it was as late as 1947 when Ed Lowe figured out he could use Fuller's Earth for kitties to do their deed in. He later sold the company in the 1990s for several million dollars.

Just wanted to share the rich pageant of history that is kitty litter.

Thats interesting. What did they do before that I wonder. Certainly cats have been indoors for longer than 61 years. Maybe he was the first to patent 'litter'? interesting.....

(I thought maybe I was the only one who looked up weird, useless stuff! lol Glad to hear I'm not alone. :D Not saying that bit of info is useless, I've already filed it away in my brain for storage, its just odd  )
