Question for Simple Green Users

Postby chrisg » Sun Oct 02, 2011 9:22 am

I am new to the CatGenie and want to learn more about using Simple Green. One of my 2 cats uses the CatGenie but always seems hesitant. He often sniffs the clean box and walks away a few times before he goes. I don't think he likes the smell of the plastic pellets or SaniSolution (unscented). I read that someone added Simple Green to the wash cycle to improve the smell and perhaps the stickiness of the pellets. There are many variations of Simple Green cleaners. I was wondering if I should be buying Simple Green or Simple Green Cat cleaner. It seem that the "Cat" cleaner is more likely to be safe for cats but I don't see reference to it in any of the threads about Simple Green. Can anyone tell me which one everyone is using? Thanks for your help.

I am one of the users of simple green concentrate/ aka original basic Simple Green Concentrate. the CG does the dilution so do not add water to the cartridge. http://industrial.simplegreen.com/ind_p ... urpose.php
I buy it at home depot for 9 bucks a gallon.

Thanks for posting the pic, locomanjim. I saw a gallon jug of Simple Green cat stain and odor remover at Petsmart too, but wasn't sure if that was the Simple Green others were talking about. I bought the Simple Solution Extreme for cats instead and am regretting it. It gives out the most awful stink during the first wash and drain cycle.... I was happy with the Sani Solution, scented, except for the tracking and price.

It wont stop all the tracking but cut in 1/8 of what it use to be. I don't use CG pellets and have a black thick rubber mat from lowes so the cat has to step on it. it helps stop the pellets from leaving the laundry room. This one. http://images.lowes.com/product/convert ... 0398xl.jpg $20

I have this mat from Petco http://tiny.cc/munde but was thinking that this one http://tiny.cc/gegpe might work better. It's a little thicker and bigger overall. What kind of pellets do you use?

I had the same mat but 6' x 3 ' but the pellets were still stuck in the cats paws so they would track every place. Since i changed to the mat with holes about 1/2" thick 3' x 3', the pellets do not make it up past the first stair. Im in a town house so steps are right buy the CG. The pellets I use are the black sinking pellets from eBay. I purchased 10 Lbs 2 years ago just after i ran out of CG pellets(that might have lasted 4 months till i changed to Simple Green. I still have 6 lbs left. i don't recycle the pellets i just shop vac them up and trash them.
here is a eBay link that is the same pellets i use but the cost has doubled since i purchased them last.!

I was allergic to the Simple Green scent. It was the original formula. Apparently they have 2 or 3 scents.

I know tons of people use simple green/grunge off to clean their pieces, but I've never really seen how exactly people use it. Just fill the tube up and let it sit for a few days then rinse?
I've also heard you can reuse it. Just strain it out and its good to go again?
