It's been about three weeks now. CatGenie customer service never did return my call. That does not reflect well upon them. The cats have had ZERO behavioral mistakes and are clearly delighting in the old fashioned litterbox with a large hood. They are SO happy to be able to roam the house again and are clearly enjoying our companionship. I can't get them off my lap when I sit on the couch. It makes me feel guilty that I put them through all that, just so I wouldn't have to scoop their litterbox once a day. I discovered that there are far worse things than the minute it takes to do that. Besides, I need the exercise. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of a reduction I'll have in my water and electricity bills. I'm not expecting much, but whatever it is, I'll take it.
