It took 5 months but I finally got a 3 beep error

Well after 5 months using the Simple Green I got my first 3 beep error today. Opened the unit only to find a dirty water sensor ( as usual ) and a few dark water line marks under the bowl and in the hopper. I am wondering if that is from the last month. I have been coming down at noon and catching the first water fill cycle and adding a little QUAT cleaner as a disinfectant. I fully cleaned the unit of all the dark water marks with soap and water, removed a few small pieces of soft plastic. Yes my odd ball cat likes to eat plastic bags. Back flushed the drain hose and put it all back together again. No more QUAT, lets see how long it lasts this time.

5 months is amazing, mine only lasted a couple weeks, but I think it would go longer if I cleaned it out completely and started fresh, I only cleaned it halfway, lol.

I hope yours goes longer than 5 mo this time!

My friend reminded me that cats can actually choke to death if they are plastic eaters... mine likes it too though i never found pieces bit off :\

no he passes it, when he get to it. He loves Home Depot bags and Washington Post newspaper bags! I am very careful to hide / trash all soft plastic. He gets a Real LOUD PURR when he finds it and starts to eats it, i car hear it 3 levels below, he is so big, the floor vibrates...

I agree. I think he only does it when he is out of his daily allowance of cat food and fins some plastic he can chew with out having to stand up to chew on it. In the middle of the night I was awaken but the LOUD cat purr on the middle floor, while I was passed out in the basement. He was just above me. I looked over and he was out of food and my daughter had left a empty plastic trash bag between a pile of books on her desk and he was up there chewing and a purring and a growling with happiness until I was woken and went up stairs to find him sprawled out on my daughters desk like he had the catnip munchies ! Now he has never eaten this type of plastic before, but I guess he found some and was hungry. So this is now twice in the last month the CG clogged with plastic and I get back from knee therapy to find my CG full of water, clogged with plastic and no beep code or sound. What happens is the plastic picks up and dumps pellets in the grinder-hoppers then clogs. Guess I need a better plastic policy in my home!
