Sea Salt as pellets??

Postby ahlecce » Fri Mar 12, 2010 4:10 pm

I know that this doesn't sound like it would work, but I was wondering if anyone had tried it. I'm thinking on manual flush with only a cat or two per genie, it might work. I know that the salt would have to be replenished often. Would it be bad for the cat if they licked it on their paws? I did read that the food that I feed them contains sea salt, so I wasnt' sure if it would be safe or not. I am trying to find at least something that Allie will use and then I hope to slowly transistion her to something permanant that is usable in the cat genies. Any info or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm sure salt would not dry into nice separate pellets but instead form a massive clump, and it would disappear way way too quickly, plus it would probably rust the metal on the hopper blades or any other metal in the area. I just don't see this going well.

As for your cat, I would suggest using the litter she likes, and BARELY putting some CG pellets (or your preferred replacement CG pellets), and I mean BARELY into the box she uses. Then week by week slowly transition.
