Replacement braided water supply hose...

Postby BamZipPow » Thu Jan 28, 2010 2:48 am

While I was at my brother's house, I noticed that his Cat Genie stock water supply hose had a drip near the processing unit. I figured it was either the gasket, cross-threaded, not tight enough...so I pulled it off to check. Everything was good. I reinstalled it and pressure tested it...and then I saw where it was leaking...right at the crimp.

The original hose is a reinforced vinyl hose with plastic connectors. I went to Home Depot and bought 2-4' stainless steel braided washer supply hoses as the replacement and connected them in the middle with an adapter. I did notice on the same shelf that there was a metal 90° elbow 8' stainless braided dishwasher hose in case you needed the same close quarters configuration of the original hose, too. I had enough room to use a straight hose vs the 90° elbow hose.

Cost was just around $25...not bad fer some cheap insurance from water damage from a busted hose. With him traveling most of the week and no one else at home...it would've been a lot of damage to come home to if that hose had let go. We had already replaced his washer hoses to his washer with stainless braided hoses some time ago...it was just time to replace the Cat Genie's supply hose as well. :D
