been having the dreadful 2 beep error for 3 weeks after extensive research on my part new sensor changed the regulator in the water inlet almost a few floods modified the regulator per cat genie's instructions on the phone (would be nice to actually be able to talk to a human when you call and not have to leave a msgs every time for them to call you back) i was thinking of getting rid of it since i bought it used and had no other recourse instead of getting a new one but after some serious brainstorming find out that the ir sensor is too sensitive because logicaly it it wasn't getting a return on the sensor( it is a light pipe with 2 45 degrees flats reflecting it up the ir light) so if it was defective it would fault right away upon filling so i stoped the unit when it overfilled shined a light in the lightpipe (the so called glorified sensor) and sure enough when it foams a bit and it is clean water(2nd or 3rd cycle) the light reflects back quite a bit so i started to thing well i can take it appart and adjust all of that with resistors ect (i am familiar with microcontroler programing and sensor condtioning ) then thought to myself what if i could use something like a dim lens almost like a pair of sunglass?
then it dawned on me let's paint one of the sides of the sensor with something dark hummm though and though can anyone say a sharpie? ever since i now love my genie again maybe there is a few others with the same problem but i believe it is a band aid because sooner or later it might revert to it's normal sensitivity
