You asked and we listened, evaluated, and acted. Thanks to you, we now introduce the CatGenie 120.

Greener, More Economical 120 SaniSolution Cartridge
You asked and the Cartridge is now made with Biodegradable and Recyclable translucent material. And you'll
now use 1/2 as many Cartridges. Because, with the reformulated, more concentrated SaniSolution, instead of 60
SaniSolution doses, the 120 Cartridge dispenses 120 washes. And when set on Cat Activation, it smartly adjusts
to 240 washing doses. Note: The 120 SaniSolution Cartridge won't work in the original CatGenie and the 60
Cartridge can't work in the CatGenie 120.

Economical, Eco Friendly Cat Activation
Your Wish: After the cat goes, have the CatGenie clean. Our Challenge: To make it economical and earth
friendly. We designed new software that adjusts the SaniSolution dosage from 120 to 240 washes because in
Cat Activation your CatGenie could clean more often. Cat Activation has two modes, 14 hours on ready-to-
clean, and 10 in sleep, when it doesn't clean. However, if it's used while sleeping, it immediately cleans when it
wakes up. During its 14-hour work time, CatGenie is cat and earth friendly and also cost effective. After your
cat does his business, your CatGenie waits 10 minutes before cleaning. In a multi cat household, that gives the
next cat time to come in. It then resets and waits another 10 minutes, to allow another cat to use it. CatGenie
does this until every cat has done its business. And you still have Auto Start and Manual Start options.

SaniSolution Level Indicator
In the new Control Panel, LEDs show you how much SaniSolution remains in the Cartridge, so you'll always
know when to order more. The LEDs also show the error number, so you don't have to just count the beeps.
And the beeps are softer and have shorter warning times to keep cats calm and happy.

Brand New, Smarter, Better Software
Based on your feedback, we started with a clean slate and created all brand-new software. This more robust
software is designed to stop false errors and to self-correct an error before bothering you with beeps and blinks.
The smart software can learn your CatGenie habits, its usage, and then adjusts to your home environment. I.E.
water pressure and water flow variables.

Save the Washable Granules
CatGenie 120 has a new Brim & Base. Both have been reengineered to greatly reduce Granule loss. No more
Granules in the gears. Smoother operation. Some other improvements include direct access to the Water Sensor
so no need to remove Brim for cleaning. The GenieScrubber is now in all units. Keeps the Base bottom clean
and germ free.

Easier Maintenance
No more taking CatGenie apart for a deep cleaning. Instead slip in the Machine Maintenance Cartridge
(available 9- 09) and run it 4 times a year. Other specialty programmed Cartridges are in the works.

Genie Arm & Hand now have an unbreakable connection. The weak link has been eliminated. So the
GenieHand can do its job without a break. And the Hand has teeth to grab and hold the solids. A stronger motor
now powers the Turbo Hopper, which helps it perform even better; a sharper Hair Cutter eliminates hairballs
fast and easy; and the Impeller Shaft was modified to split hairs finer.

Your old Processing Unit has
a Trade-In Value of $100.

1) Starting August 1st, current CatGenie Owners can upgrade on
the CatGenie website at CATGENIE 120 UPGRADE. As a current
owner, you would only purchase the CATGENIE 120 UPGRADE
PACKAGE at the price indicated. You'll receive $100 when you
return your old Processing Unit. We can recycle it properly and
completely. Do NOT return the rest of your CatGenie. Better to
recycle it locally as it costs more to ship than the plastic is worth.

2) Your CATGENIE 120 UPGRADE includes the completely new
CatGenie 120 Model and new Manuals. You'll also receive the
120 Cartridge, 2 boxes of Granules (a $75 saving on supplies)
and a free Maintenance Treatment. All shipping is FREE. Within
2 days of your purchase, we'll email to you a Prepaid, Fed Ex
Return Label to use for returning your old Processing Unit. The
Total Value of all extras is $125

NOTE: Your current 60-wash, green SaniSolution Cartridge does
not work in the CatGenie 120. And 120 SaniSolution Cartridges

Thank you for creating an upgraded CatGenie and I am excited to get the new 120 model!

I have a few follow-up questions for the Petnovations folks.

1) Are you aware of the sanisolution stickiness and residue? Is Petnovations working on a new "less" sticky sanisolution? Tracking is driving me crazy, in part due to the sticky residue left behind my the sanisolution.

2) With catactivation selected is there still a sticky residue left behind?

3) If we choose not to upgrade and have a CPU failure during our warranty period, will you be sending an original or 120 replacement CPU?

4) Are you still selling the original catgenie model? I no longer see it listed on your newly updated US website.

5) If I order a CatGenie from Amazon or Costco as of 7/9/09 will I receive an original model or new 120 model unit?

6) If I order sanisolution from Amazon as of 7/9/09 will I receive the green cartridges or the new 120 clear cartridges?

7) How long will you continue selling the original green 60 cartridges?

Yeah, for owners of the original CatGenie who decide their unit works just fine for them and they don't want to upgrade, are they going to be FORCED to upgrade by not having any more 60 cycle "EEPROM" cartridges available? (Unless you want to give such customers more reason than ever to seek out reset devices.)

And what about the radio communication issue? If the new chip in the new 120 cartridge is radio controlled, will storing these cartridges too close to the CatGenie cause all of their chips to count down as the CatGenie is used, thereby rendering them useless?

Oh wow, I never got around to ordering the new scrubber and hand for the CatGenie 60, and now I see they conveniently removed it from their web site.

I'm already confused as to whether you're supposed to run the "pouch," "cartridge," or both?

I'm still pretty upset about the removal of the new hand & scrubber however. I was planning on ordering that shortly. That doesn't seem very customer friendly to me.

I also wonder how long they will offer the upgrade. I am really interested in the new model, but I would like to hold off until they work out any "glitches". I just worry that in 3 months they will not offer the $100 upgrade.

In looking further at the order page for the new CatGenie 120, it appears the "maintenance pouce" is temporary, to be replaced by the cartridge in September 2009. It would be interesting to see what they have in mind for their other "specialty programmed" cartridges.

I also want to point out (before I get scolded) that when I say, "That doesn't seem very customer friendly to me," that's the impression I'm left with after they removed the turbo hopper, and scrubber/hand from their site. I do realize that I can probably (hopefully) call and order, but the web site is much more convenient. I hope they put them back.

I've said it in the past - it would be nice if they could put more service parts on their web site for easy and convenient ordering. (Washers, water sensors, arms, etc.)

Couple of comments.

I don't believe that the scrubber makes the base "germ free". I've seen the base with the scrubber installed and if a brown film on the plastic is any indication, there would appear to be PLENTY of germs left behind.

Very glad to hear that they fixed the genie hand and arm so that it does not rely on the steel pin that degrades and breaks.

If two boxes of granules and one new cartridge represents a $75 savings, how in the hell much do the new cartridges cost? Significantly higher than the 60 cartridges, I'm guessing.

Very curious to hear what the "maintenance" kit consists of. Not having to break down the CatGenie every 4-6 months for maintenance would represent a very significant improvement, but I am skeptical of the claim.

I fail to see how the new design does anything to eliminate granule tracking. All in all, very interesting, but I am going to hang onto my CatGenie processing unit like grim death until it fails and is completely useless to me, at which point I would consider the new model.

In the meantime, the search for silicone bungs/nipples whatever you want to call them continues.

I too like the idea of not having to break the unit down to clean every 4 to 6 months! The e-mail says:

HOWEVER, the bigger reason for breaking the unit down to clean has more to do with the vast number of granules that make it down into the base. Even with the new spacers I find about 2 handfuls of granules in and around the hopper when I pull it apart.

I wonder what the cost will be for the specially designed cleaner cartridge! Will they be one time use... or $25 ever 4 months... or are they a one time purchase?

Regardless of the fact that when you upgrade they credit you $100 for your old CPU. I'm still curious what their so-called upgrade price is going to be. Considering to buy new right now is listed on their website as $329 for the tabby package. Lets just for a minute go by that price alone... after returning your old CPU it would stil lcome out to a purchase price of $229 so to make this worth while for current owners they'd have to make the upgrade price something like $200 if not less so final cost after the credit for your old CPU would be $100 if not less (preferrably less).

I hear they are refurbishing the traded in CPU's and turning them into 120 CPU's. So it's actually beneficial for them to offer this. Also as others have stated, they be knocking out the resetter market slowly but surely. The $100 credit means nothing if the pricing is the same as it is currently because you can buy it at amazon or Costco cheaper. If they were to offer it at cost less the $100, now that would be a deal!

First of all; You've go to give it to PN: This is a great service. To some of us the deal may not be as good as what we have hoped for, but don't forget PN is offering you a complete new CG120, improved on many points. Not just a new processing unit.

The new maintenance cartridges are a great idea too, though I wonder if it completely eliminates maintenance. I would probably end up sanitizing the reservoir under the bowl with peroxide a couple of times a year anyway. But other cartridges are coming too: I can't wait to here their purposes.

I wonder: Will those different cartridges be identified by the CG120 and will different cleaning cycles be run if inserted? I can imagine that maintenance requires a different cycle...

They may take those units in and refurbish them or keep them for spare parts to serve warranty claims and regular repairs. But I don't think these processing units can be upgraded very easily into CG120 processing units very easily because the outer shell is probably different: The control panel is just a foil keyboard and the LEDs are embedded in the plastic of the shell. I also think this foil is rather difficult to replace because it's self-adhesive. But it wouldn't be a bad idea, if only for environmental reasons, so I wouldn't be surprised if the did. We'll see next month

Where did you hear that? I hope THAT'S not true. They can't sell refurbished product as new. That's illegal!

They would use them for warranty replacement. When a 120 owner needs an in warranty replacement. This was they're not sending out new 120 CPU's for warranty issues.

I wonder if the ability to upgrade the existing Catgenies will end at some point and the credit for the old PU go away, as witnessed by the disappearance of the upgrades on the website.

Companies offering any real upgrades are pretty rare. PN is the favorable exception in a lot of areas and upgrades seems to be one of them. But...upgrades are exactly that, they usually don't last forever.
