Just a note regarding the devices for re setting the CG cartridge. On the NEW CG model re-setting the cartridge will be very difficult if not impossible. The new model uses a radio waves from the cartridge to the processor, so if you want to continue to fill your own cartridge DO NOT BUY the NEW 120 model. If however you are happy to purchase the cartridge's the NEW MODEL 120 is a better product.

How do you know the new CG uses radio waves for cartridge communication? It doesn't state that in the new 120 user manual.

Sorry, I've been out of town.
As you all can probably understand, I should not post anything until I can speak with an attorney.
But you know where to find me...

Later!

Some of the users are not-for-profit organizations with several (one has 13) CG's. Think of the number of cartridges they use with their multiple cycles. Think of the cost to these volunteer places every month! If CG is so worried about the wrong solution, why don't the smart guys (to make it, now idiots) provide the solution in bulk? They would still make money but not have as much to manufacture and FILL THE LANDFILLS WITH these cartridges.

Thanks for screwing your customers, CatGenie!
' YA GOTTA BE KIDDING ME !

Let me get this straight: your pissed because you can't refill 120 cartridges with a re-setter, and it's Catgenie's fault ?!!

Yeah, Catgenie's screwed its customers? Let's see how they've done that.
1. They make a better TurboHopper, you get it free, or nearly free. (You already own a CG, why in the world would they do that?)
2. They improved the scoop and invent a scrubber for little or no cost. (Why not just put it in new ones they're selling and existing owners can go without?)
3. Some customer's wanted unscented solution. They developed one and now it's available.
4. Not wanting granules to be unecessarily lost, they'll send a little kit to fix it, just for the asking. (Free kit, yeah that's really screwing the customer)
5. Hey, genius, maybe, just maybe the new catridges will not give us the failures that plague still full cartridge. Another nice improvement by the company that's "screwing its customers".

I can only guess at the improvements made that aren't obvious to us customers. Yeah, getting to customer service can take a while, but they always do their best for you. Now we have another crybaby 'cause he can't screw Catgenie. What in the world would make you think this free for all with cartridges would go un-noticed by the company? Look, you paid for a resetter, had your way with the cartridges for a long time and now its over (at least with the 120).

Just stick with your current CG. You can continue to deny Petnovations by continuing to use your resetter and your 5 gallon pail of stuff. Does that nolonger make you happy?

I was not referencing the 120 cartridges, but rather their threatening the vendors selling 100% legal resetter devices for the existing CatGenie. They are screwing customers who have not had a chance to purchase a reset device yet. I was referencing CatMan's post and his site shutting down.

As to the 120 cartridges, it sounds to me like they do not want to pay a licensing fee to use an existing security or encryption system, nor did they want to pay one or more people to develop a proprietary encryption system for them. So they simply changed the way the cartridge is written to by using a remote control style system rather than eeprom pins. If there is no security on the 120 cartridges, then it will likely once again be a matter of time for someone to figure out how to write to the cartridges, and again it will be 100% legal.

This is also likely why they are choosing now to threaten existing cartridge resetters... they don't want the new 120 cartridges to have a reset solution available, at least right away.

The DMCA claims in the letter PetNovations sent out are bogus and insulting. This would be like a company placing a label on a battery compartment that says, "User prohibited from replacing battery," then claiming that ignoring the label is violating the DMCA.

Ok if you look at the letter my bet too is this might be gameparts that sent the letter. He has redesigned and is now selling under another name. They use the words reverse engineering ( that what AMD did to Intel Processors and lost) They say stop over writing propriety software, They are not over writing software, they are overwriting a number, they don't own numbers. the reset devices has not broken any security, so no software was stolen. reverse engineering is legal. Now as for there Quat chemical, they use a Quat from Cartier Chemical in Canada they ship it to UK or Iran/India or one of them places were a non foaming soap is added then packed and shipped back to the US calling it a animal product so the EPA has no involvement because it is a animal product they do not need EPA registry. Some said it is not UL approved that is right its not, again because it is a animal product. it is CE certified by the UK standard and that is a little more stringent then UL rules and regs. I use to work for a company here in VA that placed UL and CE stickers on all there products but no UL or CE testing was ever done, so just because they have the stickers that was a lie. It would get there 300 hundred thousand dollar machine in the uk and other country's.

I have a few more things to address, The CG plugs I have 5 samples but they want me to order 5000 at $2500.00 or 50 cents each. But I am still doing research to find a plug that is close and will work so i don't have to buy 5000

The other thing DO NOT ORDER THE PELLETS FROM CRS CRAFTS!!! They clog the CG easily because they are twice the size of the regular pellets. The floating is not so bad, they don't seam to track around the basement as bad, But they do cause clogs so watch out!

As for a class action suit go after the child protection lock, they protect the child from playing with the buttons but even my hand will fit down the cartridge holder and I can prick my finger with that needle now that is dangerous!

I am trying to help catman and I am sure he will let us know the outcome as soon as he can.

Kewl that you're helping catman out. Keep us informed. I know what you mean about the needle. That's the first thing my 2 year old did when I unboxed it - stuck his hand down the cartridge hole. I didn't even know about the needle until I looked down the hole. Just so thankful that he didn't get stuck. Stinks that they want you to buy 5K of those little stopper things. I'm gonna bypass my needle totally. Will take it all apart and run a hose directly to a gallon jug for the solution. That'll be a month or three down the road, but it's in the plans.

Locomanjim, The "letter" did not come from me. If you haven't noticed I am no longer selling reset devices either, check for yourself. I have taken my website down, and I have no product listed on ebay, amazon, or anywhere else. I received the same letter as Catman from the attorneys for Petnovations and am complying with their demand to cease and desist.

This sucks...
I ordered a CG thinking it would be better than sliced bread, and so far it has. I was going to keep buying cartridges from them because I think they have done a lot for their customers and upgrading their product every time there was a problem. So, as I am ordering my first set of cartridges from their website (12-pack for $149.99), the shipping is...... $80. Are you f@$kin kidding me!!! Then I look at the other 3-pack for $39.99, and that shipping is like $40!!!! So of course I order the resetting device.
Just my 2 cents.
Hopefully someone from CG reads this post!!

See, that's another part of the problem. One of the reasons I chose to go with a reset device was not because the price of the cartridge was too high, it was the fact that the only place I could get them was from ordering them. Those extra shipping costs add up. And if I happen to run out of a cartridge before my order arrives, I'm screwed! If you could get these things at your local pet store, it may be different but that's not the case. CG ropes you in with a great product and compares the savings but they don't tell you how inconvenient it is to get supplies and how exorbitant the shipping costs can be!

These reset devices have provided me an alternative to CG's monopolistic ways. I have options to buy supplies and accessories from third parties for every other device I own but CG wants to control the market and not allow competition to bring down costs with their device??!! BS!!
