SaniSolution dispenses directly onto granules while drying?!

From reading up on the PetZyme stuff...it's not a sanitizer...only a deodorizer. Not sure about how well it would keep the bacteria from building up in the Cat Genie.

I'm tempted to try a vinegar/bleach solution as a sanitizer. I'm sure that will evaporate during the drying process and not cause any problems with cats over the long run. :D

You may not want to mix vinegar and bleach. The results are toxic.

Mixing vinegar with bleach will yield a fizzying, toxic substance, even breathing the fumes can be toxic! Don't we remember anything from high school chemistry?

Petzyme uses live enzymes to "eat" the odor causing bacterial. The dishwashing soap I've included in my mix sanitizes if the Petzyme doesn't. If it can sanitize my dishes so that they're clean enough to eat off of, it's a good start, at least. I'm very happy with this latest combination.

Here is the direct quote about Petzyme from the Petsmart web site:
PetZyme Stain and Odor Remover is specially formulated using enzymes to digest the stains and odors left behind by pet urine and feces. PetZyme is guaranteed to work or your money back. Sold only at PetSmart.

Ingredients: Non-pathogenic bacteria, natural enzymes, mild detergent, water, vanilla fragrance.

I have used it to clean spots where my kitty has taken it upon himself to "mark". This has not happened often but for some reason if I forget and leave a plastic bag on the floor he HAS to pee on it. And then later I would catch him sniffing and peeing in the same spot, presumably because he can still smell it even after I've cleaned up using household cleaners. However, After scrubbing the area with Petzyme, he may sniff the spot once or twice but he always leaves it alone after that.

Sorry if that sounds like a commercial but with that in mind I think I prefer the idea of having it spray on the granules while drying. Gives those nice little bacteria and enzymes more of a chance to do their thing.

Sorry I JUST noticed I had a PM asking about how Petzyme leaves the CG smelling etc.
I promise I wasn't ignoring you. But instead of replying privately I thought I would share my answer here.

Frankly I don't notice ANY smell afterwards though sometimes I can smell the Petzyme DURING the cleaning process.
I think NO smell is a HUGE improvement over the normal Sanisolution smell. But I wouldn't mind if it did leave the room smelling like Petzyme.

Also, the granules are not sticky or tacky etc as with Sanisolution.
