I will consider that, but 99.8% of my sales have not come from litterbox central but other avenues. I get very few referrals from this website according to my webtracker. But I will consider contributing.

You should. Consider it. Free advertising, heated discussions, and belly rolling entertainment. What more could one want from a website?

And for the record Catman started it with the wise-ass remark...even if it was in jest!

Gameparts and Catman: both of you have catgenie cartridge products. Catman plainly states with confidence he will provide upgrades of his device for the upcoming 120. Gameparts is a little more cautious, so my question is directed mostly to Catman:

Based on your upgrade promise on this Litterbox-central forum, if I buy your resetter and you cannot upgrade it to the 120, what will you do for me?

I think Catman has been more then fair with his product. I would not expect that his product would work with the new unit. If you are looking to buy one I would hold off for a month or two and see what happens with the new unit. It would not be fair to assume that no matter what product comes out the Catman has to provide a device that will be able to crack it or your money back!

The reset device pays for itself in less then 10 cartridges.... PLUS:

1. I now run extra cycles... before the reset device it cost about .25 per run. It is not much... but still 2 cycles is .50 a day. Now it cost me .02 per cycle... so I have no issue running an additional cycle when Cougar decides to use the unit just as it finished... it is almost like she works for the company!
2. I feel the product I use works better then the solution provided by Cat Genie. It smells better, it seems to clean better, and it is less sticky.
3. I no longer have to remember to order cartridges when I am running low. I always kept a 2 cartridge back up because I have had several fail after only 1 or 2 uses. Cat Genie always replaced them for free... but I had to wait 3 to 5 days for them to arrive. So when I would go on vacation I was always worried about a failure while I was gone!

Yes, Catman and I have no inside scoop from Cat Genie about their new product. We have no idea why types of protections they will put on their cartridges, if any. We won't know until the product is on the market and we have one in our hands. I am making no guarantees at this point, other than to say IF I can crack their code I will offer free upgrades to my customers who upgrade to the new Cat Genie 120 product.

Hello everyone. I've been browsing this site for the last few months getting tips and ideas on granule alternatives and reset options. I just recently created an account so I could chime in with my opinions and ideas. I tried ordering my own reset unit from ebay that connects to my computer and gave up on that option after trying to find an easy way to connect it to a cartridge. Waste of $25. (if anyone wants to take it off my hands, let me know). So I started looking at the two devices from catman and gameparts and decided to go with gameparts. I just received my reset device from gameparts last week and I love it. Very easy to use and very quick.

I am sure catman's device is just as easy but my biggest concern is the exposed electronics. I'm a computer engineer and I know how easy it is to transfer static electricity to electronic components and ruin them. For me, it's something I know how to avoid however my fiance could easily do some harm. So that is the main reason I wouldn't go with catmans unit. As far as being able to read how many wash cycles are left, I don't care. If I have empty cartridges laying around, I'm going to reset them anyways and the Cat Genie will tell me how cycles I have left anyways when it comes down to it. If I leave on vacation, I'll just insert a newly reset, refilled cartridge and not have to worry about it. So that option is moot.

As for either of them being compatible with the 120, I don't plan on upgrading to the 120 so that doesn't matter to me. But I'm sure that if the 120 is similar to the older model, that both catman and gameparts will offer something to their current customers who do upgrade to the 120.

RobDiablo,

I understand your concern about static electricity, but with my device this is not an issue. My device has nothing on it sensitive enough to be susceptible to static electricity discharge. I even back that up with a lifetime warranty, so this should be of no concern to anyone.

That's good to hear. You both have pretty much the same product for around the same price so it comes down to personal preference. I'm just glad there were options so I didn't have to try and build one myself and/or keep paying PN more money and keep wasting the earth. Kudos to the both of you for your time and efforts.

thanks RobDiablo, Yes, both these reset devices have their pros and cons. I too personally prefer my electronics enclosed, maybe not so much for static electricity, but for reduction of accidental mishaps (getting liquid on them, dropping it and damaging an electronic component, etc). But they both do the job of resetting, so it does come down to person preference.

Thanks for your purchase and kind words.

Be sure to check out our new updated website - still working on it, but it is much improved from previously.

It would be naive not to automatically question the source of any review in which the service/product provider stands to make/lose money. That said, I think it's pretty unlikely that a customer who hasn't purchased something would defensively post her email and where she's registered for her wedding and solicit emails. That's crazy town, and it smacks of insider damage control.

Admittedly, I'm a pretty cynical consumer. And I don't give a darn whether the person selling me a useful product is childish or rude online.

I'm thinking about buying a CatGenie, but I already don't like the idea of buying something from a company so specialized with so many problems. They make ONE THING as far as I can tell, no? Why don't they just make the product WITH your reset devices stock? And it seems like a hell of a lot of trouble to have to rely on (relatively) tiny third-party manufacturers for a generically-named product whose purpose I cannot divine without first paying $270 for/installing/having problems with this crazy cat toilet thing.

Anyway, just wanted to contribute bc it annoys me when people fail to consider the glaring possibility that the "random satisfied customer" or "random annoying B with her panties in a bunch over product she doesn't represent" is actually the business proprietor. And bc I want to never touch kitty poo again without learning all the complicated ins and outs of "reset devices."
