I bought a new CatGenie

I was interested to see how different CGs being shipped out now are from units shipped two years ago. I've had to replace the PU a bit, my warranty will be running out in a few months, and having the unit NOT work while I wait for something to get shipped to me sort of sucks. All of this made me decide to go ahead and purchase another CG.

I realize this sort of makes me an addict. I'm okay with that. But I'm really really hoping that this new unit will NOT require a new PU immediately and then every six months. And will have a perfectly round bowl, or at least, no granule intra-invasion problem. (I have no problems with tracking because of 1) an awesome mat that BOTH my cats like, even my picky one and 2) the way it's set up traps it all in the closet it's located).

But I have a thread that's a record of my experiences with the CG (well, when I have an issue, have to call Customer Service, and get a replacement part. I don't share the good except with golden silence). So that's not really the point of this post. Instead, it's the cool new box that the CG comes in!

I saw that the granule boxes were coming with print on them for a while now (though I personally hate the new boxes. The box the granule boxes come in tend to have an inch of granules in it cause the granules are pouring out of each individual box and I have to tape the sides of every single box shut for storage). The CG box is also beautifully packaged. I plan on taking some pictures of the unboxing. And the guide now has a little hint about mixing the granules onto old litter in your old litter box (which I'm pretty sure wasn't in the original version).

In my mind, that means PetNovations is doing well, which makes me happy. Though I was a little disappointed that the warranty went from four years (from the CG site) back to two years. But it got here very quickly - I bought it on Nov 3rd. Shipping was only $15 to Hawaii. When I bought the Litter Robot about three years ago, I paid $100 in shipping. My replacement hopper and spacers for my old unit haven't arrived yet. We plan on using the old unit with the replacement hopper and spacers for a little while longer to make sure it works well so that the parts can be reliably used as spare if, in some unfortunate event, that we have to replace anything on the new unit.

I replied to my order confirmation asking about the space discs. They do not come with the new unit. You have to ask for them specially, but I don't think they charge extra shipping if you do ask after you order. The new hopper should already come with the unit though I stated this assumption in my reply just to make sure.

On a side note, since I'm in Hawaii and I called about getting a replacement hopper and the spacers since my unit no longer wants to chop up poop for some reason, I would have been charged for shipping on them (more than the $5 that everyone else gets charged). So, I asked to get it added to the order I had placed earlier that day. The rep that I spoke with said we had to cancel the order and reorder to do so, which I was happy to do. She also applied the 5% promo that was running on their site (which I somehow missed). Just another example of the excellent customer service at PetNovations.
