Are they wrong???

Hey locomanjim!

No, they're not entirely wrong. I have about fifty/fifty mixture of the CG pellets and the eBay pellets. While the CG pellets do not float, the eBay pellets tend to. I say tend to because there's also a decent amount that sink. I've not seen a decline in performance and it still allows the feline to dig and hid his/her waste. As more of the CG pellets are flushed, I'll be adding more of the eBay pellets. Time will tell the outcome, however.

it has been one month since i have ordered the plastic beads from crs crafts - they have worked out great with no problems in the CG whatsoever. they are a bit lighter than the original CG litter - they do not float during the washing cycle, and clean up just as good as the other. i see that there are some very similar beads on ebay - pricewise and shipping wise i think i made a better choice at crs crafts... whichever - both are much cheaper than that from CG company....

yes - those are the ones. ordered them online on a sunday - received them 4 days later on thursday. did have 1 email conversation with the owner, very pleasant and curteous. there are price breaks at 5 lbs and i think the next break is at 25 lbs. the break will show if you put the number in the ordering box and click next - or however the sequence goes...

I was wondering if anyone has figured out an alternative granule that helps with tracking. The poly pellets are about the same, and I think my wife is going to lose her mind picking up granules everyday. I've tried everything... many mats, the light grid, litter catchers, etc... and nothing helps. I tried changing solutions to a less sticky one, and the problem is still just as bad. Any one have any suggestions?

Train yer cats to wipe their feet...maybe a scratching post nearby... ;)

Yer not gonna git all of the granules/pellets unless you have someone there to wipe their feet off everytime they go.

The other alternative is to put a minimal amount of granules/pellets in there so they git used to not covering up their poop...until there isn't any in there left to track out. :D

not to sound like a broken record - BUT - the beads i got from crs crafts are staying in the bowl - i have gone from sweeping the CG area 4 times a day to about 2 times a week - they do NOT track out at all - possible because of the round, smooth design ?? who is to say.

Hmm... maybe I'll try taking some of the granules out of the bowl.. I always keep it at the refill line... I know one of my cats really likes to cover, going back even after he gets out to cover some more. THanks.

Warning because the CRS craft pellets are twice the size of the CG pellets they clog twice as easily.
You have been warned!

i've been using doll filler stuff from Michael's craft store for a month or so now. they get tracked out just as bad as the CG pellets. the only good thing is that they don't have sharp edges so when you step on them they hurt less.

what's the consensus on plastic BBs? they're a little larger, heavier, so maybe they stay in the bowl better...? i worry about the impeller thingy though.

I just finished off my first 10lb bag of safflower seed. Works great. Purchased another 20 lbs. Been using it for 6 or 7 months now.

What is the relative size of the safflower seed compared to the size of the CG pellets? What about using the birdseed that is really small and round such as millet seed?

A little smaller. Don't know about the millet seed. Would depend on how well it holds up to the wash and the strength of the shell. I kept a couple of boxes of the pellets from PN just in case this didn't work, but I think I'll stick with it. Still escapes and gets tracked in the house, but not as bad as the granules did. Can purchase at walmart, but my local tractor supply carries it cheaper... think lowes does too.

If you have a baby, you don't want the kid picking up pvc and eating it. Having a 10 month old this is an issue, and I would rather him swallow the seeds than the granules. I would rather him not swallow anything, but he always finds the stray pieces for some reason, lol.

I purchased a bag of the clear pellets off ebay and didn't like them at all. Didn't dry as well as the regular granules, nor the seed.
