Hook-up Question (laundry room)

Postby woodberries » Fri Apr 13, 2007 1:00 am

If I get the cat genie, I'll put it in my laundry room. Is it super easy to hook up to the water and drain line for the washer? Or will I need a plumber or very savvy amateur?

Can I easily run it along the wall to another side of the laundry room? Will I need special tubes.

TIA!

The water and drain hoses are about 5-6 feet long.
The setup is very easy for laundry...and the unit comes with the required adapter and easy instructions. My husband and I connected ours (toilet hook-up) in about 10 minutes.

Good Luck!

Actually, the lines that come with the Catgenie are about 9 feet long.

For the water line:

1. Turn off the faucet on the cold water line that presently goes to your washing machine.

2. Unscrew the water line from the faucet - you may need pliers. Be careful not to lose the washer.

3. Screw the Y shaped metal adapter that came with the Catgenie on the faucet - make it hand tight.

4. Screw the Catgenie water inlet hose to one side of the Y adapter, and the hose from your washing machine to the other side.

5. Turn the faucet back on. You are done.

For the waste line:

Simply push the hook into the same pipe as the water outlet line that comes from your washing machine. I found it easier to remove the hook myself.

Thanks for the help!

Michael. You said:

Easier to remove the hook yourself? Instead of what?
Instead of putting it in?
Instead of hiring someone else?

Just wanting to be clear so I don't make mistakes.

No - I just found it easier to push the line in after I removed the hook, which is actually meant to be used with a toilet bowl.

I think there are five different water lines in a washing machine but I can not remember. If I will remember I will let you know man so you could have some references in laundry room. Then there’s a 9 feet long hose in the washing machine, but I am not sure if how long is it.

Well, I think don’t need anymore a special tubes for the laundry room. Just the drainage hose is all about 5-6 feet long that is okay. But if you don’t meet the exact long like that 5-6 feet long if I don’t mistaken for those long pipes tubes.
