Hood NOW please!

Postby Galaziea » Wed Mar 21, 2007 2:23 pm

I signed up for the newsletter and never got it.hmmm? OK sorry folks but I don't care how much the hood will cost, or about all this price bargaining, discounts, beta testing or which one to get (sides or hood). I JUST WANT THE HOOD put on the market! And I will pay 50$ or MORE for a piece of plastic. I am recently past my 90 days and have only 1 out of 5 cats using it (sparingly). I think the hood will change all that and that is why I haven't returned it. And trust me I have run into my own problems with it. Overflow, blockage, stuff getting jammed up in the etc. but I believe in this product and wish that everyone would let them get on with it and make it! Obviously the kind people from CG Co. read this and it has an impact on their desicions (which is great by the way) don't get me wrong I know that this forum is absolutely the best in regards to the CG and I thank you all for your wonderful imput. I just may lose my mind while waiting for the hood here in my never-ending mountain of cat poop scooping. It's a frickin' full time job!

probably won't buy the hood...

Postby Tonk » Wed Mar 21, 2007 3:06 pm

My cats have never used a litterbox with a hood, so I probably won't get one. One of my cats likes to prop her front paws on the edge and she wouldn't be able to do it if a hood was there. To help with the scattering of granules, I've bought the StopTrax squares to catch the litter. It's really helped with the tracking. The only problem was that my cats would do everything possible to walk around them because they don't like the feeling on the bottom of their feet. Now I've made it so that they have to walk on it by covering the whole bathroom floor!

FYI: Plastic is not cheap. However, there is cheap plastic. High quality plastic, and fireproof plastic like we use in several components is not cheap. We use only the highest quality plastic and injection molding proceedures.

This is not to say that either piece will be super expensive and since our final costs are not in we cannot finalize the price, but the good news is you are right on target for what we intend to set pricing at.

FYI: If you read my other post on the timeframe, it takes 90 days to make a mold and we are only in the beginning process of getting the mold production started. After that we run what is called a T-1 injection and look over everything VERY closely. We will test these first injections for quality, strength and of course how well everything fits and stays together. We will also perform a cat urine test to make sure it functions correctly while at the same time test it in 10 homes (already selected) for about 10 days. After we get compile that information we will make any changes necessary to the molds and produce the hoods (T-final). Remember, after all of this, we then need to pack and ship them to our warehouse.

We will go fast, but as I stated in that earlier post, this is at best 4 months away and more than likely you will not see hoods until early June.

Actually you could barrel mold the sides and hood using the same plastic for cheaper than injection mold will do you.

I myself am not really interested in the hood but am very interested in the sides.

I'm interested in the hood because one kitty is scared to use the CG because she has been attacked by the other cat while she was in it (at least, this is one resaon). I put a big, flat cardboard box (the kind you ship pictures and paintings in) next to the side of the CG that is most "open," but I still hope the hood will allow the cats to feels more secure.
