Tips & Tricks for toilet training your feline

Postby abbeytoo » Thu Oct 26, 2006 8:20 am

Cats most certainly can flush toilets,(and open doors, and pick things up with their paws) but you definately don't want them to learn that trick! They would go OCD on it! You'd be hearing flush! flush! flush! at all hours and repeatedly! Most cats are fascinated with the swirling water and the fact that it disappears right before their eyes. If they learned how to make it do that , OMG! they would keep doing it until there was no more water on the planet! Trust me, this is one trick you do not want them to learn!

Max, my now 40 pound Bengal, learned to flush the toilet at about one year old. He doesn't know how to actually use the toilet of course - he just knows how to flush it. Over and over.

I have to keep the bathroom door locked and keep the Catgenie in the laundry room....

While I realize I'm almost a year late on this post, I just HAD to thank Aretha for the journal. It was like a drama! I'm sad to hear it didn't work out, but excellent journal nonetheless. Hope it does work in the future.

I used the citi kitty seat for my cat, she's 2 and took to it right away, we've been totally litter free and trainig free for months now with no mistakes.
