Does this CitiKitty really work? Has anyone here tried it?

It looks like it is thin plastic. There is another one on the market made out of that thin plastic. Don't bother. It is too thin to be supportive enough for a cat. I can't imagine any cat feeling comfortable on something that is wobbly.

The whole toilet training thing is dependant on one thing alone: if the cat wants to do it, he will. If he doesn't, there is no way you will make him.

The regular toilet seat is at least sturdy, so they have some firm footing underneath them. I had a cat that used the toilet. I never trained him or even thought about training him to use it because I have been thru that with other cats, some successful and some not. It is a PITA. He just jumped up onto the seat, hung his butt over the bowl, looked up at me (and I swear, he smiled!) and peed! I was dumbfounded, to say the least. (He did this for the first time while I was setting up the Litterfree I had just bought for him!) He never pooped in it, but peed most of the time. Again, this is something he wanted to do, so he did it. If I tried to make him do it, it would never have happened because he did what he wanted to do and nothing more.

There are so many variables that can hinder the process. More than one cat? That can create a problem. Privacy is pretty important in this process because it is soooo foreign to them. They have to feel secure or it wont work, and having another cat just pop in unexpectedly, or knowing it could happen, is enough to make the cat be on guard which really isnt conducive to training of this nature. If he doesnt have firm footing, it willl never work!

there is an artlcle by a girl who trained her cat to use the toilet, and it is the best 'plan' Ive seen/used. She claims she takes her cat traveling with her and he uses motel toilets. I'm not quite sure I buy that, but whatever. The cats name is Misha or something like that. The process goes thru stages, one of which is a metal bowl that fits inside the toilet. I'm sure if you search the net, you will find her instructions.

Be prepared for the whole process to take several/many months. It is a super slow process. One of the stages is very stinky unless you are home to supervise the whole thing and remove offending poo immediately. Good luck if you choose to go that route. You will need it. That and all the patience you can muster.

i JUST set up the citikitty training seat yesterday..as of right now..a little more than 24 hrs later my cat has still not gone potty..as far as i know...

im dumbfounded cause this doesnt seem to be a problem for anyone else that has used citikitty... he has eaten three meals since last night ..im afraid he will become sick so i am currently looking for answers myself..as for the sturdyness of the seat, they explain that the seat is a little wobbly in order to urge the cats to use the actual toilet seat for balance thus giving them proper footing!! make sense to me..but we will see..right now my cat is not shitting at all!!

You 'just set it up" and are 'dumbfouned' that your cat won't hop up onto the toilet seat to go to the bathroom????!!? OMG! You've got to be kidding ! Tell me you are joking!

The toilet is probably the last place your cat would go, if there are other options. other options being the floor, your furniture, your clothes, anywhere! It is completely unnatural for a cat to use the toilet. Those people that have had success have spent a huge amount of time training the cat. It is a verrrry slow process and most just get frustrated and abandon the plan.

to think that all you had to do was 'set it up' and kitty would just hop up there, just boggles my mind.

I tried something that looked a lot like the citikitty. Not sure if it was the same brand but it looked the same. My cat fell through the plastic into the toilet. It took a lot of work to get her back to being good about using her regular box. I would be hesitant to try it again.
