Where to find A&H High Performance Litter???

Postby Inky » Wed Aug 16, 2006 11:58 am

I happened across the A&H High Performance Litter the other day at a PetSmart...I went back to buy it...there was no evidence that it was ever on the store's shelf.

Now, I'm, um, we're dying to try this stuff. But I can't find it anywhere!
I'm in the Kansas City area. I've checked a Petco, Target, Walmart, and went back to the PetSmart where I first saw it and asked the manager, who asked the cat litter boy. Neither of them seemed to know anything about it either.
If anyone in the Kansas City area has found this wonderful sounding A&H High Performance Litter, please please please tell me where I can find it.

Cats & LitterRobot are waiting, & thank you in advance.

Well, Jeff, I returned to post this message before I saw your reply--

Duh, I said, as I bopped myself in the head. Call Arm & Hammer! Which I just did. The rep input my zipcode & mentioned a couple of HyVee groceries in KS (I'd checked a PriceChopper in MO) that should have it. Don't know why I didn't think of it sooner. Ususally, I'm always calling for info if I can't find it on the web.

Now, I'm off to get a bag or two.

Just found the 15lb bag at Target for under $12. There was only one left (I got it) so this stuff might be catching on.

I saw this at my local PetSmart and thought about trying it... but there was a very noticable fragrance coming from the sealed plastic bag. One of my girls hates anything scented, if I can smell it just holding the bag I imagine it would be way too strong for her nose!

It has a fairly strong "cedar-like" odor. I was worried about that, too (the fussy female I wrote about here hates ANY changes) but she took to it right away. The A&H HP is so good, I'd encourage anyone to at least try it. About $7 is a very small risk (it only takes a small bag to fill a normal-sized litter box) and IMHO once your cats accept it, there's no going back ;)

I finally found ONE small bag at the store I hate to go to. Going to fill it up here in a little bit. :)

Okay so I tried and was happy for awhile but then Miss Lily decided that she absolutely would not use it for pooping!!! So I'm back to searching for the perfect litter :o

How does A&H HP compare to WBCL?

Postby bellethecat » Wed Nov 22, 2006 8:47 pm

Anyone tried both A&H HP and WBCL? Are they similar? Is tracking better/worse?

I'm currently using WBCL Extra Strength (multi-cat formula) in my Litter Robot. I've only had the Robot 1 week.

I have noticed that sometimes still-somewhat-wet clumps stick to the lining of the Robot, so I am wondering if the A&H HP might clump harder faster? The Robot, if you don't know how it works, allows 7 minutes after the cat leaves until it cycles/sifts out the litter.

Also, even though the bags/website for A&H HP make the ingredients very mysterious "natural ingredients...," I read somewhere that it is in fact made from corn cobs, and that is what WBCL is made from.

I'd love any feedback before going out to buy a bag. Anyone have problems with their cat not liking it? Maybe I should wait a while, since I just switched from a manual litterbox to an automatic... too much change at once might freak out my cat!

Rock solid Clumping???

Postby danniemac » Fri Dec 29, 2006 11:44 am

Ok, I used the litter, liked the litter but the "rock solid clumping"???? For me it still remains "wet" like. I use the LM and i have yet to see a rock solid clump. Anyone else have this problem?

Also, I used it before with no problems but then the store ran out so I had to use an alternative. Now back to using it and my one cat refuses to poop in it! I saw that another had this issue.

i have a LM...and one very teeny cat whose inner workings work exceptionally well....how can one little itty bitty thing smell so bad?!?! :?

anyhow... i tried the new A&H "high performance" litter....looks great....works not so great.....it was a mess all around my LM....nothing made it into the bin......it didn't clump all the well either.....rock solid or otherwise....

i wouldn't necessarily recommend it for the LM....

so sad....still questing for the perfect, no smell cat litter & box solution....

I tried this in my Litter Robot, because it was soft and fluffy and I figured I could fill the 'Bot higher without tripping the weight sensor.

Which it did, but it didn't work; stuck to the inside, left "mulch" in the drawer. Contained odor well, and the cat's didn't mind, but the thought of coating the inside of my Robot with it curtailed my experiments.

Probably great if you are scooping and flushing in the bathroom, and that's probably going to be great for such use, but two big thumbs down for use in a Litter Robot.

Well I know this thread was started a year and a half ago so don't know if anyone will respond... I bought the A&H High Performance a few weeks ago and I like it. My cats took to it right away, no problems. I'm never imagined that the bag would be so light!

Anyways my question is that the back of my bag says it's NOT to be flushed b/c it's not safe for sewer systems and that it needs to be disposed of in the trash. Did something change b/c everyone else on this thread says it's flushable. I really wish it was b/c it would be so much easier to f;ush it than put it in the trash where it ends up smelling.

When the stores open tomorrow, I'm getting some. If it controls the stench then the price won't bother me, especially if it's truly flushable.
Let us pray that Chester, High Priest of Stinky Pee & Poo, approves the change.
